Focus Features has taken global rights to Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov’s thriller Profile, which made its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in 2018 and won the Audience Award there. A theatrical release date of May 14 has been set. Universal Pictures will distribute internationally, excluding CIS/Russia.

Profile follows an undercover British journalist in her quest to bait and expose a terrorist recruiter through social media, while trying not to be sucked in by her recruiter and lured into becoming a militant extremist herself. Profile stars Valene Kane (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery) and is inspired by the 2015 nonfiction bestseller In the Skin of a Jihadist by a French journalist who now has round-the-clock police protection and has changed her name to Anna Érelle.

Profile plays out entirely on a computer screen in the Screenlife format, pioneered by Bekmambetov. It was written by Britt Poulton (Them That Follow) and Bekmambetov and Olga Kharina. Bekmambetov and Kharina are producers under the Bazelevs banner with executive producers Adam Sidman and Maria Zatulovskaya from Bazelevs, Igor Tsay, Valerii An and Oleg Petrov from Interface Films and Rick Sobalvarro.

The Kazakh-Russian film director came to Hollywood’s attention with his 2004 Russian vampire franchise Night Watch, which spawned the 2006 sequel Day Watch. Bekmambetov’s first Hollywood directorial feature was Universal’s action pic Wanted starring Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman which was nominated for two Oscars and grossed $342.4 million at the worldwide box office. As a producer, Bekmambetov’s Screenlife title Unfriended was picked up by Universal and grossed about $65M worldwide off a $1M budget. He also produced the Debra Messing and John Cho feature Searching, which was picked up by Sony Pictures and grossed $75M on an even smaller budget.

Profile also played SXSW and won the Audience Award in 2018.

“While the pandemic has shifted our entire lives online, with school gone remote, work meetings replaced by videocalls, and happy hours virtual, it has also raised numerous questions about our digital privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity. That makes this the best time to watch a movie like Profile for those who have spent months in lockdown with their computer screens and who can relate to the paranoia and riskiness driven by the Internet and online technologies in a time when everyone from the terrorists to your government wants a piece of your digital exposure,” Bekmambetov says.

In summer 2020, Universal and Bekmambetov inked a deal to partner on another five Screenlife features in various genres. Earlier, in March, Screenlife earned Bekmambetov’s Bazelevs production company a place in Fast Company’s Top 10 Most Innovative video companies in the world.

Bekmambetov is represented by WME and Chase Mellen III. Kane is represented by Untitled, ICM and United Agents. Latif is represented by Principal Entertainment LA. Adams is represented by Berwick & Kovacik. Rahimzadeh is represented by Cherry Parker Management. Watkins is represented by Independent Talent Group. Cater is represented by Middleweek Newton Talent Management.

The Profile sale was negotiated by WME.

After Daredevil was canceled by Netflix, Disney Plus will develop a series with Matt Corman and Chris Ord attached to the project.

The fans have been pining for more Daredevil ever since Netflix canceled the show shortly after season 3 aired in the fall of 2018. It appears that Disney Plus has listened to the outcries.

Factoring in that the Marvel Netflix shows have now been added to the streaming service, Charlie Cox made a cameo as the Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Vincent D’Onofrio reprised his role as Kingpin in Hawkeye. So, seemed like only a matter of time until Disney resurrected the critically acclaimed Daredevil. Now it appears they finally are.

Variety reported that Marvel Studios has started developing a new Daredevil series for the Disney Plus streaming service. Not many details have been released about the show, but Matt Corman and Chris Ord, both of whom co-created the show Covert Affairs starring Piper Perabo from 2010 to 2014, have been attached to write and produce. Even those details have yet to be confirmed by Disney. Reports have yet to indicate if Cox or D’Onofrio will reprise the roles they played back when the show was on Netflix, but it’s highly likely given that they have been featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This news also begs the question if Elden Henson will return as Foggy Nelson or if Deborah Ann Woll will return as Karen Page. With how season 3 ended, one can’t also help but wonder if Wilson Bethel will return as Bullseye or if Ayelet Zura will return as Vanessa Fisk.

It doesn’t stop there. If Daredevil is getting revived by Disney Plus, does that mean other Netflix shows like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fistand The Punisher will also get started up again? Also, is this new Daredevil series going to pick up right from where they left off or are they going to start from scratch? Will it continue its adult themes, or will it be geared more toward children so that it can be more easily connected to the MCU? So many questions, which are sure to be answered in due time.

Considering that Disney decided to bring the Marvel Netflix shows onto its own streaming service, and knowing how popular Daredevil was when it was on Netflix, it’s probably in their best interest to not start from scratch or take on a completely new tone. There’s no reason to fix what isn’t broken, especially knowing that the show left fans on a cliffhanger following an epic third season. If they try a new approach, that may serve to infuriate fans since they’ve been asking for this show to pick up from where it left off since 2018.

Marvel Studios has done an expert job at keeping fan interest because they have given the fans what they wanted. When they wanted a collaboration of heroes to come together for a team-up, Marvel Studios gave it to them. When they wanted familiar faces from previous franchises to come back for another movie, Marvel Studios gave it to them. When they wanted to see Marvel Studios give their own interpretations of heroes previously not portrayed well by other studios, Marvel Studios previously has and will give it to them. If Marvel Studios knows what’s good for them, they’ll continue Daredevil from when we last saw him on Netflix.

Daredevil can currently be streamed on Disney Plus.

Many film fans are likely familiar with the name Alex Garland. While he initially garnered attention as a novelist in the 1990s, Garland would later write screenplays for several critically acclaimed genre films before making his way into directing. Garland’s official directorial debut Ex Machina is especially noteworthy as it not only won a Best Visual Effects Oscar in the same year as Mad Max: Fury Road and Star Wars: The Force Awakens but also became a quintessential entry in the sci-fi genre.

However, Garland’s latest film Men is a little bit different from his other works as a director in that it tones down the sci-fi and tones up the horror. First announced in 2021, the film stars Academy Award nominee Jessie Buckley as a grieving widow whose trip to the English countryside takes a dark turn when a mysterious stranger starts to follow her. If that brief plot synopsis doesn’t pique your interest, then you should know that Penny Dreadful regular Rory Kinnear also appears in the movie as the many inhabitants of this countryside.

COLLIDER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Whether you’re a fan of Garland or want to watch the movie out of sheer curiosity, this handy guide will answer all the questions you may have about watching Men such as when it comes out, if it’s in theaters, and what critics have to say about the movie.

The first trailer for Men was released on February 9, 2022. This 90-second teaser shows several creepy images including Buckley’s character walking towards an ominous-looking statue and a bunch of apples slowly falling from a tree. The trailer doesn’t reveal much about the film’s plot, but it still intrigues viewers into wanting to learn more. Not to mention the echoes of Buckley’s calling repeating throughout the teaser adds to the unease.

A full-length trailer was released on March 23, 2022. This preview reveals more about the plot and shows some of the characters Kinnear plays (a priest, a bartender, and a child just to name a few) while continuing to keep the movie mysterious and suspenseful. Also, just like the first trailer, the echoes of Buckley’s calling play throughout, and they’re still as creepy as ever.

When Will Men Be Released?

Men has been released in the United States on May 20, 2022, and in the United Kingdom on June 1, 2022. The film will also screen at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival on May 22 as part of its Directors’ Fortnight selection.

Will Men Be Released in Theaters?

Yes, Men will be released exclusively in U.S. theaters on May 20, 2022. Click here to find out if the movie is playing at a theater near you.

Will Men Be Available on Streaming the Same Day as Theaters?

No, Men will not be available on streaming the day it hits theaters. As of this writing, there’s no word on when the movie is available on streaming.

However, A24, the movie’s distributor, has signed an exclusive output deal with Showtime Networks in late 2019 to stream and air all their non-Apple movies released theatrically through November 1, 2022. Therefore, Men is likely to appear on Showtime as well as its affiliated channels and streaming services sometime after it leaves theaters.

When Can You Watch Men on Blu-ray and VOD?

Men has not yet been given a Blu-ray or DVD release. However, movies are usually available on those platforms three to four months after hitting theaters, meaning that Men will likely come out on Blu-ray and DVD in either August 2022 or September 2022.

For anyone who prefers to see Men on VOD, movies are usually available on this platform one to two weeks before being available on Blu-ray. Therefore, Men could still be on VOD in either August 2022 or September 2022.

What Is Men About?

No matter if he writes or directs, many of Garland’s films have dealt with masculinity, and he wanted to make that even more clear with the title of his new film. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly in April 2022, Garland had this to say about the title of Men:

“It comes up a lot, in different ways. With MenI just sort of thought, ‘Screw it, I’m just gonna go straight into this.’ Maybe it’s just that with Meninstead of running underneath, it sits there on the surface.”

As for whether the movie contains any #MeToo messagesGarland says that’s up to the viewers:

“A huge amount of it is about how the viewer responds to it. The film is about giving 50 percent of something, which could be touchstones, and the viewer is providing another 50 percent. If that is your response to it, I’m fascinated by that.”

Here’s the official plot synopsis of the film if you want to learn more:

In the aftermath of a personal tragedy, Harper (Jessie Buckley) retreats alone to the beautiful English countryside, hoping to have found a place to heal. But someone or something from the surrounding woods appears to be stalking her. What begins as simmering dread becomes a fully-formed nightmare, inhabited by her darkest memories and fears in visionary filmmaker Alex Garland’s (Ex Machina, Annihilation) feverish, shape-shifting new horror film.

How Is the Critical Reception to Men?

If you’re still unsure about seeing Menit might help to know that the movie is scoring very well with critics. As of this writing, Men holds an aggregate score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. Moreover, the critics’ consensus reads, “If its narrative and thematic reach sometimes exceeds its grasp, magnetic performances from a stellar cast help Men make the most of its horror provocations.”

Collider’s Ross Bonaime had this to say about Men in his review:

“It is exciting to watch a writer and director like Garland take a huge swing like Meneven if it doesn’t entirely hold together as tightly as something like Ex Machina or Annihilation. Men is certainly more about asking questions than providing answers, a challenging, strange, and often horrendous journey that certainly doesn’t hold back in terms of weirdness, and wants to crawl into the viewer’s brain. With Menthe audience is getting 100% unfiltered Garland, and while it doesn’t all work, it’s fascinating to see what happens when a storyteller like Garland can experiment like this and show a story unlike we’ve ever seen before.”

If people looking to buy a CNC aluminum cutting machine, Somebody may be wondering how strong it is. Here are a few of the things to consider: 180Mpa, Non-magnetic, Good conductor of heat and electricity, and Machinability. Using the right bit for people CNC aluminum cutting machine is essential for successful CNC aluminum cutting. However, be careful when choosing people bit: it should be optimized for aluminum machining and should not be damaged by heat, vibration, or other materials.

180Mpa

One of the benefits of CNC aluminum is its strong tensile strength. This metal is a great choice for high-stress applications, including structural and aerospace components. CNC aluminum can be easily fabricated and is highly versatile. Its tensile strength is up to 180Mpa, making it an excellent choice for many projects. Its tensile strength is determined by the degree of deformation and the impurity content.

Another benefit of CNC aluminum is its ease of machining. Aluminum is a popular material for CNC machining because it’s strong, easy to work, and inexpensive. It’s a good choice for a number of applications. CNC aluminum machines are available in a variety of strengths, and it’s an excellent choice for machining parts for any application. However, if people’re not sure which aluminum type is right for people, it’s a good idea to find a company that offers samples and does a comprehensive evaluation.

Non-magnetic

Among the many non-magnetic alloys used in CNC aluminum machining, cobalt chromium is one of the most popular. This alloy is biocompatible, corrosion resistant, and has excellent tensile strength. It can be used for a wide range of applications, including precision machine tables and tooling. However, unlike aluminum, cobalt chromium is not magnetic or heat treatable.

While not magnetic, aluminum is still influenced by magnets. When a powerful magnet is held against a piece of aluminum, the moving magnet causes an electrical field to be created. This interaction causes the magnet to fall slowly. Using this property of non-magnetic aluminum, CNC machines can be made with precision and without worry about the safety of sensitive machinery. In addition, non-magnetic aluminum is also much easier to work with, compared to other non-magnetic alloys.

Good conductor of heat and electricity

What makes a material a good conductor of heat and electricity? Generally, metals have a lot of free electrons. These free electrons can move around freely inside a metal, which makes it a good conductor. In contrast, an insulator has no free electrons and cannot conduct electrical current. Fortunately, the laws governing the conductivity of heat and electricity are quite similar. In general, metals are good conductors because they have more electrons than other materials.

As for the conductivity of heat and electricity, metals are the best. Copper is the best conductor of heat, as its free electrons transfer thermal energy. Steel, bronze, and air are poor conductors of heat. Metals are also good electrical conductors, although the former is more expensive than the latter. Wood and air are poor conductors of both electricity and heat. The properties of each material are unique, but the basic rules for heat conductivity remain the same.

Machinability

CNC aluminum is one of the most popular metals used for CNC machining. It’s lightweight, relatively easy to machine, and has many advantages over steel. However, it is important to understand the machinability of aluminum before investing in a CNC machine. Here’s some information to help people determine the machinability of people aluminum part. The more easily it can be machined, the more options people have when it comes to CNC aluminum.

Tool helix angle: A tool’s helix angle is the angle formed between the centerline of the tool and the tangent of the cutting edge. Cutting tools for aluminum generally have higher helix angles than standard end mills. people can find specialized tools with helix angles of 35deg, 40deg, or 45deg. Variable helix tools help reduce chatter and increase material removal rates. Lastly, the clearance angle is an important factor to consider when CNC aluminum machining. Too large of an angle will cause the tool to dig into the work and too small will result in too much friction between the tool and the workpiece.

Corrosion resistance-

CNC aluminum is one of the most common metals used in CNC machining, but it is not only popular because of its corrosion resistance. CNC aluminum’s surface is characterized by nanopores, which contain corrosion inhibitors and colored dyes that protect against the elements. The material’s high machinability also makes it an excellent choice for CNC aluminum machining because it can be machined to close tolerances without causing significant wear and tear.

There are several different grades of CNC aluminum. The grade of aluminum used varies depending on its corrosion resistance. Aluminum 6061 is the most corrosion resistant grade, while the lower-grade alloys are less corrosion-resistant. While the stronger alloys are less oxidative, they are also more likely to rust or experience other forms of chemical damage. Therefore, it is important to select a material that has a high level of corrosion resistance.

Toolpaths

The toolpaths used for CNC aluminum strength manufacturing can be divided into two types: roughing and finishing. A roughing toolpath cuts along the surface in several Z steps, making it faster to remove material. It is commonly used to create block-out designs, and it gives the shape an increasingly resolved shape with each pass. A finishing toolpath cuts the surface more slowly and shallowly than a roughing toolpath and provides a cleaned-up shape.

The helix angle of a tool is measured by the angle formed between the tool centerline and a straight line tangent to the cutting edge. Cutting tools made for aluminum typically have a helix angle of 35deg, 40deg, or 45deg. Variable helix tools are available for roughing and finishing applications, but a 45deg helix angle is the most efficient for High Efficiency Milling (HEM) toolpaths. Higher helix angles result in faster material removal rates.

Four winners of the 2020-21 Student Short Film Showcase award, a collaboration between The Gotham, Focus Features, Jet Blue and the Westridge Foundation, are now streaming on Focus Features’s digital platforms as well as in the air on JetBlue’s inflight entertainment systems.

The films were chosen from the submissions of 16 film schools and represent a real diversity of subject matter and storytelling styles. In Edward Hancox’s (University of Texas, Austin) cleverly conceived and sharply acted Things That Happen in the Bathrooma bathroom, typically a place of privacy and solitude, becomes the site of complicated relationship dynamics between a young man and his new hookup. Emotionally affecting and with astonishing visual style, No Law, No Heaven is a decades-spanning drama about love and regret by Kristi Hoi (University of California Los Angeles) set within Hong Kong’s Kowloon Walled City. Set largely during one day on the streets of New York City, the sharply observant Cousinsby Mandy Marcus (Brooklyn College) is a strong and subtle tale of two cousins from a Caribbean-American family experiencing the dynamics of each other’s lives in the afternoon following a family funeral. From Temple University and set amidst one hot suburban summer, Molly Sorensen’s skillful and wonderfully acted Mud & Honey is about the friendship and repressed romance between two teenage girls on the edge of a major decision. A fifth winning film, Anitaby Sushma Khadepaun (Columbia University), will screen at a later date.

About the program, now in its second year, The Gotham Executive Director Jeffrey Sharp said in a press release, “We are thrilled, not only by the high quality stories coming from daring and innovative students, but by the strong partnership we found for a second year with Focus Features and JetBlue, and for the first time with the Westridge Foundation. The Gotham exists to champion underrepresented voices and this program does just that in bringing together forward thinking creators and industry partners.”

Commented Focus Features Chairman Peter Kujawski, “We’re beyond thrilled to be partnering with The Gotham, JetBlue, and the Westridge Foundation on this incredibly innovative partnership to support these vital, emerging and diverse filmmakers.”

“As the only US airline with seatback screens at every seat, JetBlue understands the importance of delivering a superior inflight entertainment experience,” added JetBlue VP of Marketing, Elizabeth Windram. “By utilizing our seatback screens as a discovery platform, our customers have the option to watch everything from the latest blockbusters, up-and-coming student filmmakers, and everything in between. JetBlue has been a longstanding supporter of the arts, especially within our own backyard of New York, and is excited to be partnering with The Gotham, Focus Features, and the Westridge Foundation to help pave the way for the next generation of student filmmakers.”

“The quality of the submitted projects was incredibly high – these are stories that represent the type of incredible voice and value many people may not think of with student films,” said Shelby Rachleff, Westridge Foundation’s Program Manager. “These filmmakers are going to continue making bold and original work, and we are thrilled to be able to support them in this way at the beginning of their careers.”

The jury picking the winning films consisted of Caroline von Kühn (Director of Catalyst, Sundance), Ina Pira (Curator, Vimeo), and Ron Simons (Independent Producer of Film and Theater). Opal H. Bennett (Co-Producer, American Documentary | POV) was the initiative’s project lead, and Shelby Rachleff (Program Manager, Westridge Foundation) co-led the jury selection and development of the project selection process.

Over the next several days, Filmmaker will be running short interviews with the makers of the four shorts currently screening. Check back each day for another interview.

About three months ahead of its Disney+ debut, Marvel Studios delivered the first full look at Tatiana Maslany and Mark Ruffalo in the official trailer for She-Hulk. With this being the first Hulk-centric project in the MCU in over 14 years, She-Hulk comes as a major turning point for the MCU as a brand-new character takes her place in Phase 4.

Part of what makes this series such a game-changer for the MCU is that it’s the first project, streaming or theatrical, to feature a leading character brought to life with as much CGI as Jennifer Walters. Even considering how much digital work Marvel Studios uses on most of its projects, which has increased in Phase 4, another giant green monster of a heroine is certainly a big endeavor for the ever-successful MCU.

While fans have already made their feelings known on some of that VFX work, Marvel is delivering a larger-than-life character who boasts nearly the same size as her counterpart in Ruffalo’s Hulk yet with notably less muscle. A recent social media post suggests that the VFX team had another challenge to work through during the development process.

Marvel Requested for She-Hulk to be “Smaller”

VFX artist Sean Ruecroft took to Twitter to share some of the developments behind She-Hulk’s look on-screen in the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Disney+ series.

In response to a Tweet that seemed to criticize the muscular size of She-Hulk in the recent She-Hulk trailer (sharing the above image with the caption “When the character creator doesn’t let you make buff women”), Ruecroft indicated that the 6-foot, 7-inch tall character had a more muscular build earlier in the process. That is, until the Marvel Studios creative team emphasized to the visual effects team to “make her smaller” multiple times in the process:

“I was at a company that did VFX for this. Apparently she was bigger early on, but the notes kept saying to ‘make her smaller.’ We always roll our eyes (like we did on Sonic) but at the end of the day artists gotta follow orders.”

Ruecroft was also a VFX artist on 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and the recently-released Moon Knight.

Getting the sizing right on characters that are developed fully through CGI is always a difficult task, especially some of the bigger ones like Vin Diesel’s Groot or Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. Even with a reference point for She-Hulk in a similar character like the Hulk, going so heavy-handed in the VFX department gave the team on this show a new set of issues to work with.

The biggest question that comes from these quotes: how much more muscular was She-Hulk before the footage that fans saw in the first trailer?

Kevin Feige described the character as being “well over 6’7” in his initial description from Disney+ Day 2020, whereas the Hulk is anywhere from seven to eight feet tall in his appearances. This likely changed and ultimately settled into something consistent when Bruce Banner figured out his Smark Hulk persona, letting Marvel Studios work off that as a baseline for where to put She-Hulk.

At the moment, it’s still unclear why the studio and the VFX department had some discrepancies on the character’s size, although fans may never find out the real reasons behind those issues. The only hope is that her height doesn’t take away from the suspension of disbelief in the show as a whole, especially as the CGI continues to develop until the series arrives in full.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will debut on Disney+ on August 17.
