Elisabeth Moss was seen filming scenes for the fifth season of The Handmaid’s Tale at a Toronto park on Thursday.

The actress, 39, wore a long, dark coat with a mauve sweatshirt as she embodied her character June Osborne.

The star was seen with a baby that plays her baby daughter Nichole. The child was in a swing at a playground and also pushed in a stroller.

And action! Elisabeth Moss filmed a scene with her TV daughter for the fifth season of The Handmaid’s Tale at a Toronto park on Thursday

Moss went makeup free for the scene and toughed out the low Canadian temperatures for the dystopian drama.

She wore a pair of black gloves, black pants, and black leather booties while working on set.

The TV star’s short, bleach blonde bob was styled in a side part and loose spiral curls with some dark roots visible.

Her baby costar was in a puffy pink coat, floral print leggings, and pink snow boots.

Elisabeth’s coat had a silver zipper going down the front and she smiled at times while pushing the tot in the swing.

In another instance she pushed the little one in a stroller as she worked diligently on the upcoming, highly-anticipated season.

Thursday’s sighting followed Tuesday’s spotting in which she worked alongside O-T Fagbenle, who plays her husband Luke Bankole.

Elisabeth wore a cream coat and white leggings as she wrapped her arms around O-T’s neck and they shared a kiss.

Last month, The Handsmaid’s Tale star Samira Wiley revealed what fans can expect from Elisabeth’s character June in season five.

‘We’re picking up, really exactly where we left off,’ she said on The View. ‘Everyone who saw the season finale knows what happened with Commander Waterford. And so June, as always, is in a little bit of trouble.

‘But she’s in Canada now, and she’s living with Moira, my character, and also her husband, Luke,’ Samira added.

‘She has resources around her now that she hasn’t had before living in Gilead. So, we’ll see how that will play out. How June can fight Gilead from within Canada and the help of her friends,’ she continued.

According to Ann Dowd, who plays Aunt Lydia Clements, shooting started last month.

‘We begin shooting in February,’ she told The Independent back in February.

She also teased some of the excitement awaiting fans: ‘I’ve read the first couple of episodes and all I can say is they’re so good. I just didn’t see any of this stuff coming. To be able to get to season five and you’re thinking, “What?!”

‘Not in an outlandish way where you’re thinking, “Wait a minute, how could that happen?” It’s like: “[gasps] that is fantastic.” It’s really good.’

Keke Palmer has shared a video of what appears to be her showing off a pregnant stomach on social media, prompting fans to question whether she is expecting a child or if she was making a joke for April Fools’ Day.

“I’ve officially joined the summer MOM club,” she tweeted alongside a mirror selfie, in which she could be seen posing with her shirt lifted to expose her stomach.

However, even though the Nope actress has reportedly been in a relationship with podcast host Darius Jackson since last summer, many fans were skeptical about Palmer’s cryptic pregnancy announcement.

“Girl we know what today is,” replied one fan,” while another said: “She really almost got me.”

“Like we don’t know what day it is,” tweeted someone else.

However, others were not amused by what may be a pregnancy prank on Palmer’s part, as many noted that the joke can be insensitive to those who have experienced infant loss or fertility struggles. Tricking your partner on April Fools’ Day with a pregnancy announcement can also lead to hurt feelings and disappointment when they come to learn it actually wasn’t true.

Fake pregnancy announcements occur year-round, but are especially popular on April Fools’ Day. Many celebrities have sparked backlash for faking pregnancies in the past. In 2019, Justin Bieber apologised to his fans after he posted a picture of a sonogram to his Instagram with no caption, implying that his wife Hailey Bieber was pregnant. “I didn’t at all mean to be insensitive to people who can’t have children,” he wrote in a subsequent post. “A lot of people I know, their first go-to prank on April Fools is telling their parents they are pregnant to get a big reaction. But I will apologise anyway and take responsibility and say sorry to people who were offended.”

According to the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control, 19 per cent of women aged 15 to 49 years are unable to get pregnant after one year of trying. And, about one in four women have difficulty carrying a pregnancy to term.

While people around the world celebrate April Fools’ Day on the first of the month, many social media users agreed that a pregnancy prank is not something to laugh about.

“Pregnancy is not an April Fools prank. That’s it. That’s the tweet,” wrote one person. Another said: “A quick reminder that pregnancy, death, suicide, breaking up, abuse, or injury aren’t pranks. Be kind this April Fools’ Day! ‘Confuse, don’t abuse.’”

“Friendly reminder: faking a pregnancy is not a funny April Fools prank,” issued another person on Twitter. “Please be mindful of your friends who are struggling with fertility/ losses. More people struggle than you think!”

As of now, Palmer has not clarified whether she is actually pregnant.

The Independent has contacted a representative for Palmer for comment.

With an Oscar, a top-selling band and two blockbuster movie franchises under his belt, it’s understandable why fans want to know about Jared Leto‘s net worth and if he makes more from his music or movie career.

Leto—whose full name is Jared Joseph Leto—was born on December 26, 1971 in Bossier City, Louisiana. He dropped out of high chool in 10th grade but returned to finish his education at the private Emerson Preparatory School in Washington, D.C. After graduation, he enrolled at the University of Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before he transferred to the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He moved to Los Angeles in 1992 to pursue a career as a director and actor. His big break came in 1994 when he was cast alongside Clare Danes in ABC’s My So-Called Life. His on-screen career continued with movies like Cool and Crazy, How to Make an American Quilt and The Last of the High Kings. In 1998, Leto started a band named Thirty Seconds to Mars with his brother, Shannon Leto. The band went on to release five albums and sell more than 15 million albums worldwide.

While Leto was in Thirty Seconds to Mars, his movie career also exploded. He went on to star in films like Fight Club, Girl, Interrupted, American Psycho, Requiem for a Dream and Panic Room before his Oscar-winning performance in 2013’s Dallas Buyers Club. In 2016, Leto made his supervillain debut as the Joker in the DC Extended Universe’s Suicide Squad. He reprised his role in 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Leto’s supervillain career continued in 2022 when he played Morbius, the Living Vampire, in Marvel’s Morbius.

“I fought hard for these opportunities, and I really am intent on breaking some things, even if it’s a glorious failure. It doesn’t matter. I would rather have abject failure and know that I took great risks than mumble or whisper my way through a movie with an attitudinal coolness,” Leto told Vanity Fair in 2022 of his success. He also told the magazine about what it’s been like to balance both his movie and music career. “I mean, usually I go from working on a film straight to either putting music out or going back on tour with 30 Seconds to Mars. I know a lot of actors who will make a film and then kind of decompress. For me, that means just going back out and touring around the world, and that’s great. I’m glad I have that other creative opportunity, that other love in my life,” he said.

He continued, “I’ve never been directly inspired by a film that I did, like House of Gucci or Blade Runner, to go write a song. Not yet, anyway. I mean, if I did something like [the 1976 sci-fi film] The Man Who Fell to Earth and there was some kind of connectivity, maybe. I’ve been doing them both so long now, and I do other things in my life, that I think I’m just good at compartmentalizing and pretty disciplined when it comes to work.”

So what is Jared Leto‘s net worth and what does he make more from: music or movies? Read on for what we know about Jared Leto’s net worth and how else he makes his money.

How much does Jared Leto make with Thirty Seconds to Mars?

Image: Arthur Mola/Invision/AP.

How much does Jared Leto make with Thirty Seconds to Mars? Leto is the lead singer, guitarist, bassist and keyboard player of Thirty Seconds to Mars, a band he formed with his brother, Shannon Leto (who plays drums and percussion), in Los Angeles in 1998. The duo later expanded with guitarist Solon Bixler and bassist Matt Wachter. They released their debut album, Thirty Seconds to Mars, in 2002. The album peaked at number 107 on the Billboard 200 and has since sold more than 121,000 copies in the United States, with 2 million total units worldwide. Bixler left the group in 2003 and was replaced by Tomo Miličević. Thirty Seconds to Mars’ breakout came in 2005 with their second album, A Beautiful Lie, which peaked at number 36 on the Billboard 200 and since sold more than 4 million copies worldwide, with 1.2 million units sold in the United States alone. The album also featured singles like “The Kill,” which has since gone two times platinum, and “From Yesterday,” which is certified gold. Thirty Seconds to Mars went on to release three more albums: 2009’s This Is War, 2013’s Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams and 2018’s America, which peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 and is the band’s best-performing album to date.

So how much did Jared Leto make with Thirty Seconds to Mars? While Leto’s exact earnings for Thirty Seconds to Mars isn’t known, he told Billboard in 2015 that he makes more from the band than his movie career, but that most of his income comes from other businesses. “I’ve been onstage more hours than I’ve been in front of a camera,” he said. “I’ve never made money from films. It’s a challenge to make money from music these days — that’s one of the reasons I’ve been really entrepreneurial.”

How much did Jared Leto make from Morbius?

Morbius 4

How much did Jared Leto make from Morbius? Leto starred as Morbius, the Living Vampire, a.k.a. Dr. Michael Morbius, in 2022’s Morbius, which follows a scientist with a rare blood disease whose attempt to cure himself transforms him into a vampire-like creature with superhuman powers. The Marvel Comics character was first introduced as an enemy of Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man #101 comic in 1971. The movie was expected to gross around $33 million in the United States and Canada in its opening weekend, with some projections as high as $40 million to $50 million. The numbers are against a budget of $75 million. The movie is also the third movie in Sony’s new Spider-Man Universe, which started with Venom in 2018 and continued with Venom: Let There Be Carnage in 2021.

So how much did Jared Leto make from Morbius? While Leto’s exact Morbius salary isn’t known, he likely made around the same as Tom Hardy, who plays Eddie Brock, a.k.a. Venom, in the DC Extended Universe’s Venom movies. According to Cheatsheet, Hardy made $7 million for the first Venom movie in 2018. Show Biz Galore reports that Hardy made $17 million for its sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, in 2021. Tom Holland, who plays Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise (which is co-owned between Sony and Disney), made $500,000 for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming, in 2017, according to Celebrity Net Worth. He made between $4 million to $5 million, with at least $150,000 in bonuses, for the movie’s sequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home, in 2019. Holland made the same amount for the third Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, in 2021, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

In an interview with Screen Rant in 2022, Leto opened up about how Marvel’s history of blockbusters was one of the reasons he wanted to star in Morbius. “Look, what I loved about this is it was an opportunity to bring the character to life for the very first time. And it’s harder and harder to do that, because a lot of these incredible, iconic characters have been portrayed,” he said “They’ve been realized before. So, that was really exciting to start from scratch. I was excited to be part of what Marvel’s doing with these characters, and I thought Sony is just doing an incredible job.” He continued, “And I’m also a sucker for a big fun popcorn movie. I think it’s exciting that this is exclusively in theaters, and it’s coming out April 1, at this time where we’re having a little sense of normalcy in some parts of the world. I think that’s really nice as well.”

He also told the site that his lifelong love of vampires was also one of the reasons he wanted to play the character. “You know, I’ve always loved vampires. I love the Anne Rice novels. One of the very first movies I ever saw was Dracula; that black-and-white Dracula. So, I’ve always loved that. I love The Hunger with David Bowie, it was a great film not a lot of people have seen. For me, there’s something iconic about the opportunity,” he said. “It’s one of the roles that you want to play, so it’s great to do a different spin. This isn’t exactly a vampire, but some of those qualities are there.”

How much did Jared Leto make from Suicide Squad?

The Suicide Squad 1

How much did Jared Leto make from Suicide Squad? Leto played the Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad, a DC Extended Universe movie which follows a group of supervillains who are recruited by a secret government agency to save the world from a powerful threat in exchange for reduced sentences. The movie went on to gross $325.1 million in the United States and Canada and $421.7 million overseas for a worldwide total of $746.8 million against a budget of $175 million. Despite its negative reviews, Suicide Squad went on to have the second-best debut of any DC Comics movie after 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Leto reprised his role as the Joker—a DC Comics supervillain who was introduced in the Batman comic in 1940—in 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which was streamed on HBO Max by more than 2.2 million households in the United States in its first week. Suicide Squad also went on to a sequel, The Suicide Squad, in 2021, which Leto did not return for.

So how much did Jared Leto make from Suicide Squad? Leto made $7 million for his role as the Joker in Suicide Squad,  according to Cheat Sheet. The number is less than half the $20 million salary Leto’s co-star, Will Smith—who played Floyd Lawton / Deadshot—made for Suicide Squad, according to Go Banking Rates. The number is also less than what Leto’s Suicide Squad co-star, Margot Robbie, who played Harley Quinn, made for the movie’s 2020 spinoff, Birds of Prey. According to Variety, Robbie made between $9 million to $10 million for reprise her role as Harley Quinn for the spinoff.

In an interview with The New York Times in 2021, director James Gunn revealed why he didn’t bring Leto back for the Suicide Squad‘s 2021 sequel. “I wanted it to be its own thing completely,” he said. “When Warner Bros said they wanted me to do this, I watched the first movie for the first time, and I called them back and said, ‘What do I have to keep from this movie?’ And they said, ‘Nothing.’” He continued, “They said, ‘Listen, we would love it if Margot’s in the movie but she doesn’t have to be. You could come up with all new characters or you could keep all the same characters.’” Gunn also told the newspaper that he isn’t open to Joker returning for future Suicide Squad movies either. “Joker, no,” he said. “I just don’t know why Joker would be in the Suicide Squad. He wouldn’t be helpful in that type of war situation.”

Leto, for his part, revealed in an interview with Variety in March 2022 that he’d be open to playing Joker again if offered the chance. “Never say never. For me, they’re like living, breathing people. I know they’re not, of course, but I get attached. It’s a shame to never do it again,” he said. Leto also told Variety in January 2022 that it’s “it’s hard to say no” to playing Joker again, given how “much fun” he had to step into the “energy” of that character.

You’re a few people in a garage.” While in Thirty Seconds to Mars, Leto learned to “play a lot of roles” in the band, which inspired him to diversify his income as his career continued. “It put me on the path early on to be independent and entrepreneurial. And it lead me to the tech world,”he said.  He added, “I would say almost every investment I made I’ve been incredibly proactive, really aggressive.”

You have to be incredibly focused on what’s important, what the priorities are,” he said. “In a band … it’s very similar to a start-up.

Morbius will be available on Disney Plus in 2023. Here’s how to watch it for free.

Idris Elba has revealed the Duchess of Sussex made a special request for a Dr Dre song when he was the DJ at the royal wedding.

The Luther star said Meghan asked him to play Still DRE when he took to the decks after the couple’s nuptials in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in 2018.

Elba discussed some of the key moments from his life while co-hosting BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Rap Show with Tiffany Calver on Saturday.

Asked what it was like to DJ for the couple, and what tunes filled the dancefloor, Elba replied: “Still DRE by Dr Dre went off! It was Meghan’s choice.”

Elba began his career as a DJ long before finding fame as an actor and he got the chance to show off his real skills in his Netflix show, Turn Up Charlie, in which he played a down-and-out DJ who attempts to rebuild his music career while working as a nanny for his famous best friend’s young daughter.

Elba attended the royal wedding with his wife, Sabrina, alongside celebrity guests including George and Amal Clooney, Oprah Winfrey and Serena Williams.

During his guest appearance on Radio 1 Xtra, Elba also spoke to Top Boy star, Ashley Walters, who asked if he would accept a role in the upcoming third, and final, series of the Netflix show.

Walters said: “If there was a next season of Top Boy and we were casting for Dushane’s long-lost brother, are you taking it?”

Elba replied: “Did I just get offered a part in Top Boy on the radio?!

“You know what, every actor that watches Top Boy probably thinks the same; ‘Boy, I would kill that, you know, I would love to be in that’.

“So Ash Boy, it’s very tempting and you’re my boy, so if there was a thing for me to come in and just dip in and out, I feel like I would be honoured to be a part of that.”

The full show will air on BBC Radio 1Xtra or BBC Radio 1 tonight from 9pm to 11pm, or listen back afterwards on BBC Sounds.

“Don’t tell mama.” Amma Crellin’s chilling final words from HBO’s “Sharp Objects” have followed her portrayer, Eliza Scanlen, since the HBO limited series aired last summer.  “I’ve had a lot of people come up to me with those exact words,” Scanlen declares. “They always talk about the last scene, those last few moments and it’s been really amazing to see people so affected by it.” Watch our exclusive video interview with Scanlen above.

Scanlen admits that she put a great deal of pressure on herself as she prepared to film the now-infamous final moments of the series. “I would says, actually, that it was actually the hardest scene to shoot in the whole series because it was such a short scene, and there was a lot packed into that one moment,” she admits.

The actress sees Amma is more than just a murderous psychopath. “I wanted to show her vulnerability and to not let the audience forget that she is a victim of trauma and mental illness,” she explains. “While she is a psychopath and while she does have a lot of demons, she is just a little girl in the end.” Scanlen also says that it was important for her to like Amma in spite of the character’s actions. “You can’t play a psychopath or an evil character if you hate them,” she says. “So I had to find a reason to really empathize with Amma and that was her need to be loved.”

Scanlen also explains the ways in which the role of Amma, as well as working with co-stars Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson, has impacted her experience in subsequent acting roles. “Looking back on it, I was really committed to the role but I was quite insecure about my performance. I did fear that I wasn’t going to do the job that people wanted me to do,” she confesses. “Having Amy and Patricia by my side, guiding me through it and having them take me under their wing was an absolute blessing.” With that insecurity in check, Scanlen declares, “I’m still very young and I’ve still got a lot to learn. I think doing that role, I’ve become less afraid to forge my own path and do the jobs that I really want to do.”

Actress Taraji P. Henson is speaking out in support of former Empire co-star Jussie Smollett three days after he was sentenced to 150 days in jail and 30 months of probation for staging a hate crime against himself. Smollett, who claimed in 2019 that he’d been attacked by two men using racist and homophobic slurs, played her character Cookie’s son Jamal in the Fox series.

An Instagram post shared by Henson on Sunday features a black box with the hashtag #FreeJussie. In her caption, the Oscar-nominated star begged for leniency for Smollett, 39.

While Smollett has maintained his innocence — making a heated outburst in a Chicago courtroom on Thursday — Henson noted in her post that she was “not here to debate you on his innocence.” She does, however, feel that his punishment “does not fit the crime,” arguing that, unlike the false allegations that led to the brutal 1955 lynching of 14-year-old Black teen Emmett Till, Smollett’s “ordeal” was victim-less.

“I am not here to debate you on his innocence but we can agree that the punishment does not fit the crime,” Henson, 51, wrote. “Emmett Till was brutally beat and ultimately murdered because of a lie and none of the people involved with his demise spent one day in jail, even after Carolyn Bryant admitted that her claims were false. No one was hurt or killed during Jussie’s ordeal.”

She went on to suggest that house arrest and probation would be a more fitting punishment for her former onscreen son, who she says has “lost everything” and “can’t get a job.” Henson compared his Hollywood exile to “prison” for “an artist who loves to create.”

“He has already lost everything, EVERYTHING!” she continued. “To me as an artist not able to create that in itself is punishment enough. He can’t get a job. No one in Hollywood will hire him and again as an artist who loves to create, that is prison. My prayer is that he is freed and put on house arrest and probation because in this case that would seem fair. Please #FreeJussie.”

Henson’s post, which drew likes from Gabrielle Union and Leslie Jordan, echoes letters read during Smollett’s sentencing hearing last week, in which Alfre Woodard, Samuel L. Jackson and his wife LaTanya Richardson Jackson and others vouched for his character and urged Judge James B. Linn to not include a prison sentence.

The #FreeJussie post also follows reports from Smollett’s family that he has been placed in the psychiatric ward at Cook County Jail. At his hearing on Thursday, the actor was adamant that he was not “not suicidal.”

“So Jussie is currently in a psych ward at the Cook County Jail,” younger brother Jocqui Smollett said in an Instagram post on Saturday. “What’s very concerning is that there was a note attached to his paperwork today saying that he’s at risk of self-harm.

He continued, “I want to make it clear that he is in no way, shape or form at risk of self-harm. He wants to let folks know that he is very stable, he is very strong, he is very healthy and ready to take on the challenge that … has been put up against him.”

Jamie Lee Curtis reveals that she wants to join Netflix’s live-action adaptation series, One Piece, with a certain character in mind.

Jamie Lee Curtis One Piece Kureha

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis has recently expressed her desire to join Netflix’s live-action One Piece adaptation. One Piece is based on the ongoing beloved manga series of the same name, created by Eiichiro Oda. The fantasy-adventure centers around the titular character of Monkey D. Luffy, AKA Captain of The Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy has the ability to stretch into insane, elastic proportions once he has eaten a slice of Devil fruit.

One Piece follows Luffy and his elaborate team as they take off on a quest to find the infamous, fabled treasure that will grant him the crown, so he can finally become the King of the Pirates. Iñaki Godoy has been cast as the main lead in the live-action One Piece show, portraying Luffy himself. Godoy stars alongside castmembers Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Peter Gadiot as Shanks, and Ilia Isorelys Paulino as Alvida. News that One Piece was officially in development was first announced in 2017.

This was the ripple effect of Weekly Shonen Jump partnering with Tomorrow Studios for an American live-action adaptation, with Oda as an executive producer and Netflix eventually gaining the rights to the series in early 2020. As the success and filming of One Piece seems to only be continuing and expanding, one specific Hollywood star has her eyes set on landing a role in the show. While walking down the red carpet at the Oscars, Jamie Lee Curtis was asked by TikTok user Julian Green if she had a quick moment to discuss their shared love for anime. As their conversation wandered naturally toward One Piece, Curtis revealed that she is seriously interested in joining the One Piece adaptation. She stated, “I’m not going to get to play Nico Robin, I’m a little old now. There’s that old crone lady, not Nico Robin (Kureha). Maybe I can be Kureha, she wears those really low bell-bottoms.”

The main cast of One Piece

“She’s looking a little nasty, but she has that long, stringy gray hair. My Ruby said that would be what I would play,” Curtis concluded. Kureha as a One Piece character is described as a quirky, elderly doctor who operates on Drum Island. She is sometimes referred to or seen by others as being some sort of witch, due to her more aggressive style of treatment. She is also a natural recluse and quite mysterious to many around her.

Curtis could without a doubt kill this role, as she also shares some form of irrefutable magic within her whenever she is on-screen. Hopefully for One Piece fans, she somehow finds her way onto the live-action show sometime in the future.

One Piece is currently in production.

(NEXSTAR) – Jim Carrey is “probably” retiring from acting, he casually announced this week.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Carrey told correspondent Kit Hoover he would likely be taking an indefinite break from showbiz after “Sonic the Hedgehog 2.”

His remarks came after Hoover, who recently interviewed Dolly Parton, claimed that Parton wanted Carrey to portray Porter Wagoner in a biopic based on her life.

“Well, I’m retiring,” he told Hoover. “Yeah, probably.”

When Hoover asked if he was being serious, Carrey indeed said he was.

“I’m being fairly serious,” he remarked.

Carrey, 60, didn’t rule out a return to acting altogether, saying he might be swayed by the right script.

“It depends,” he said. “It depends if the angels bring some sort of, you know, script that’s written in gold ink, that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road. But I’m taking a break,” he said.

“I really like my quiet life, and I really love putting paint on canvas. And I really love my spiritual life. And I feel like — and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists — I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough.”

Carrey, however, said that if Dolly Parton were to approach him about a project, he would “always” be open to talk.

“Dolly is just, to me, an otherworldly talent,” he said.

Carrey’s comments came just days after giving an interview on “CBS Mornings” in which he claimed he was sickened by the standing ovation that Will Smith received upon winning his Oscar, despite Smith slapping presenter Chris Rock a short while before.

“I felt like Hollywood is just spineless, en masse,” he told interviewer Gayle King. “It really felt like this is a really clear indication that we’re not the cool club anymore.”

In Thursday’s interview with Access Hollywood, Carrey said he planned to continue producing artwork and discussed his upcoming website “Magic Hour,” where he planned to present “kooky art that is a mix of painting and spoken word.” He also discussed spending time with his grandson.

“I’m going to continue to be in the world, no matter what,” he said. “And we have more of an effect on the world than we know. We don’t have to be multi-hyphenates to affect the world.”

Carrey is next appearing in “Sonic the Hedgehog 2.” He was also part of a memorial for late comedian Bob Saget in January, which is being turned into a Netflix special.

I also liked that the founder’s vision for it was explicitly to give it the positive aspects of other sports’ culture, like mascots and a halftime show. Can you talk a little bit about that?

Oh my God. It’s so much fun! I only got to go to one competition because of Covid, but even that one, they kept telling me, “Oh, this is tiny. Wait until you go to Worlds — it’s like this times a thousand.” They truly have mascots. They’re singing songs. They’re doing dances. They all make buttons for their team and they give it out, and the kids are wearing all the other team’s buttons. And they like to wear capes, which I just loved! It made me so happy. So many of the teams, they wear capes, and they’ve got the capes covered in buttons from all the other teams. And it really is this exciting, energized, cool, fun environment. And the parents and the other siblings are out, and all the kids on the team are sitting in the stands.

It was really amazing! I never went to a single sporting event in my high school, so I have no idea what a high school sporting event is like. I went to a college that was an arts conservatory and had zero sports, so I don’t have a lot of experience with it, but to me it was kind of one of the coolest experiences I’d been a part of and everyone just seemed like they’re having a great time. And I love that the most prestigious award you get isn’t for building the best robot. It’s like “Who did the most for their community,” really. That’s pretty amazing for a robotics competition to say, “No, the most important award isn’t for the best robot, it’s for who can bring the spirit, the ethos of this competition to their community to help other people.”

I also appreciated the fact that it was a robotic competition that tried really hard not to be classist, because schools have different resources. It’s really important.

Yeah. I agree.

So you’re in France right now. What are you in the middle of?

I’m working on this project. It’s a limited series for Netflix called “Transatlantic,” so we are shooting that currently. This is really exciting for me! I’m really working hard to try and learn French, and the crew has been so patient and gracious because my pronunciation is very bad, so I have daily lessons with the crew. I think I’m improving.

Is this an exclusive that you are learning French for “Transatlantic?”

Well, it’s not even necessarily for the project as much as it is for me really wanting to be able to order in a restaurant, or know what people are saying to me, and just to try and get my vowel sounds correctly — get my “R” correct. It’s really important to me that by the time I leave France, my French Rs are correct.

Although it’s early, is there anything you can tell me about the new project?

I’m trying to remember the press release in my head so I don’t tell you anything that’s not in the press release. It’s got an amazing cast, I can say that. Corey Stoll, Corey Michael Smith, and so many amazing actors from across Europe. So I’m meeting so many terrific people. I think this is one of the nicest groups of people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, and I’ve gotten to work with a lot of nice people. So I don’t know if that’s, like, an exclusive, but it’s a nice fun fact for my life.

“The Contractor” is in theaters now, and “More Than Robots” is streaming on Disney+.
