Francesco Sacco is ready to present his album live for the first time, A – Loneliness, Hedonism, Consumptionavailable in physical and digital from 20 maggio. For the occasion, the singer-songwriter told us exclusively about his return to live music, in four Italian clubs, after the pandemic period.

The artist not only told us about the realities of each of the venues in which he played, highlighting the importance that live clubs have and the resilience of owners and managers in keeping them alive after two disastrous years, but he associated a song from his latest album at each event.

Among other things, the album A – Loneliness, Hedonism, Consumption was presented live for the first time on Saturday 21 May in the Giardino di TRIENNALE MILANO as part of the Triennale Estate.

Before delving into the new album, let’s get to know better Francesco Sacco

singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Milan. As a child he studied classical music, as a teenager he became passionate about blues and the beat generation, then he approached electronic music, performance and sound design: an eclectic songwriting project was born from a very wide spectrum of musical and artistic influences, made up of encounters between apparently distant musical worlds.

After years of experience as an author and producer for other artists and as a composer for fashion brands and theatrical performances he founded the performing arts collective “Cult of Magic” together with Giada Vailati e Samira Cogliandrowith which it collaborates with national institutions and museums, such as Museonovecento from Florence. In 2020 he made his debut as a songwriter with the album “The Human VoiceReleased digitally and on vinyl for Artist First and presented at Triennale Milano.

From the collaboration with the producers xx.buio and paralysis e Luca Pasquinoproducer, multi-instrumentalist and always a regular collaborator of Francesco, the production of “Clothes”, A piece that anticipates the new work, out for Believe Distribution in 2022.

While the lyrics move from an intimate dimension to moments of social criticism, the production turns towards a more radically electronic, cutting and direct sound, in which there is room for few but obvious quotations, such as references to American folk or Bach.

Francesco Sacco the new record

A – Loneliness, Hedonism, Consumption was preceded by the singles “Kabul” e “Fantasmino”, Is a six-track disc conceived as the ideal“ Side A ”of a larger work. A disc dedicated to the exterior, to everything that is outside: even in the most introspective songs the narration always starts from an external factor. With this record I try to share my point of view with the listeners, to make them observe the world from the same window from which I look at it.

This is the tracklist of the disc:

  1. Every man and every woman is a star
  2. Kabul
  3. Clothes
  4. Fantasmino
  5. I was left alone
  6. Laurana

The cover is curated by Lucrezia Testa Iannilli, photographer and performer who uses the human and animal bodies as a vision tool. You exhibit in Italy and abroad, collaborate with institutions such as the University LUISS and the museum MACRO From Rome. The graphics, on the other hand, by Luca Pasquino.

DISCOVERING THE CLUBS OF ITALY

We leave the floor directly to Francesco Sacco

Every time I pass by Sasso Marconi I think about Bomba O Non Bomba from Soldthird track of that album masterpiece that is Under the sign of Pisces. Partly because I know that place only because of the song, partly because the car stopped in Sasso Marconi once. Broken clutch, two hours in a sos area of the highway waiting for the tow truck. Then when he arrived we had to convince the driver to take us to a workshop in Prato: even if we were going south, he would have preferred to take us to Bologna, so he could have lunch at home.

As happened with the tour last summer, also the summer dates of my new album A – Loneliness, Hedonism, Consumption they will have thousands of kilometers behind them, prayers for the car to hold up, sweat, encounters, people, washing machines running, backlines that don’t always work, new friends and old acquaintances.

I am Francesco Sacco, and I can guarantee you that being on tour is one of the most beautiful experiences in the world, as well as one of the most tiring. Since it’s almost summer I’ll tell you about some of those clubs where when you play us you leave a little piece of your heart: pack your bags and check that there is a spare wheel in the car, because we are about to leave.

Arci Bellezza, Milan

Before the one there is the zero, before the rooster there is the chick, and, if you leave from Milan, before starting the real tour there is theArci Beauty. Historical club of old Milan, in addition to Alberto who manages the programming (and who has done a great job in recent years) there is Ornella, president and real backbone of the club. She is almost old but certainly more energetic than you, always busy, if you are looking for something, be it a cable, the keys to the dressing room or the stage switch, at theArci Beauty you have to ask her. Provided that she manages to stop her perpetual motion between the office, hall and courtyard. A club that is so home to me that as well as having played there many times I also had my wedding dinner with Giada (which obviously was a jam session). Programming to keep an eye on and beautiful people, a recipe for a beautiful evening guaranteed.

Soundtrack: Kabul

The Bookshop, Stromboli

Have you ever played with an active volcano behind you? Me and the others who were lucky enough to play at Bookshelf Yup. Stromboli is not only a volcano, but with its small constant eruptions (one every about 15-20 minutes) it is also the island’s clock, as well as its guiding spirit. At night its large black silhouette and red sparkles on its top form a natural backdrop to the beautiful wooden stage. The energy is very strong and the sound design effect is guaranteed. It is mandatory to play barefoot to fully capture the vibrations of this magical place.

After disassembly and loading-unloading, then freshen up with a night swim at the long beach or the coves nearby, and if they have already closed probably Andrea e Beppe, the two guys who manage this little jewel with love and great taste, will come with you. Fun fact that really happened: all transport on the island takes place in Apecar, but if the lift is already on it, don’t go on it too with all your friends, because the bee overturns and you risk dying. Then if you leave Naples you will definitely take the Laurana, a ship to which I dedicated a song from my latest album.

Soundtrack: Laurana

Francesco Sacco

Blue Dahlia, Marina di Gioiosa Ionica

If this story were the Odyssey, the stop at Blue Dahlia it would surely be that of the Cyclops Polyphemus. And a bit cyclopean it is also Ruggero, its historic owner and manager, a mythological animal half artistic director, half sound engineer, half cook and half lifeguard. During the day he moves between the bar and the kitchen of this beautiful place on the sea, around 10 pm he starts to do the soundcheck (we play late). If something doesn’t work he fixes it with a punch, and incredibly he always does.

In this place the whole Italian indie scene has passed, if you have never heard of it it means that you have never been on tour. Another of the many peculiarities of the place is that the speakers are facing the band, who play with their backs to the Ionian Sea, an arrangement that makes it essential to bring people on stage, a phenomenon known as the “Blue Dahlia challenge”: how will explain to you Ruggero he turned them over because of neighborhood problems, because “fish don’t break my balls”. If Rosa, Ruggero’s wife, tells you that you sucked, you don’t have to take it, but come back the following year and do better, because Blue Dahlia it is the most prestigious gym for live music. A tip: do not challenge Ruggero to those who drink the most, because you have already lost.

Soundtrack: Every man and every woman is a star

Francesco Sacco

Timeless, Fano

A small venue with the comforts of a large stage: perfect system, impeccable organization, even programming. Its owner Mattia is one of those people who is really nice to meet on your path, because in addition to being an excellent artistic director and a very good sound engineer, he is a kind person, one of those who knows what live music is made of, and precisely for this pampers you. Then he has the competence of someone who has been doing this job for a lifetime, even if he is only twenty-eight.

So tune your guitar well and try to make a video, because you are definitely about to do the date where it will feel better than the whole tour. Then enjoy the warmth of the audience of Fano, which with its half maritime and half city mood prepares you for the fact that tours are not forever, and sooner and later you will have to return to Milan. If you are about to get a tear, however, you can try asking Mattia to host you one more evening: if another artist is not about to arrive, a big smile behind and a very thick beard will say yes.

Soundtrack: I was left alone

And it’s not that the 2000s are making a comeback; in addition to fashion and musical aesthetics (such as the pop-punk boom back into radio and streams), it looks like this trend will spill over into the digital lifestyle. Recently, with the announcement of the purchase of Twitter by Elon Musk, the creator of Orkut released an open letter where he said that the vintage social network can come back at any time. Still in this “retro vibe”, the BeReal will tend to use the same molds as the late Fotolog, birthplace of many influencers in their thirties, to plant their flag and conquer Generation Z.

BeReal: rival of Instagram shows that the real can also be boring - TecMundo

O Instagram is going through some bad times. Since the beginning of the controversies generated around the Mark Zuckerberg and dubious use of data, networks related to the name Meta (Facebook, Instagram e WhatsApp) receive barrages of criticism daily because of the not-so-real sense present on their platforms. And it is on this premise that BeReal seeks to find space and win fans around the world.

The potential of Instagram’s direct competitor is on the rise. Created and launched in January 2020, the network has a great chance of being the number 1 enemy of the Zuckerberg. The threat is based on the high numbers of downloads and subscriptions on the platform. According to the data.ai institute, the application has grown by 315% since the beginning of the year. A very significant number when we talk about active users. The difference of this network anti-instagram is basically being the opposite of today’s biggest social network, exploring the real life of users, allowing them to post only once a day and without accepting filters and edits: real life in the digital world that seemed to be overshadowed in recent years by the artificial atmosphere so present in the Instagram e Facebook.

The social network promises not to let the greed for likes reach its lands. Without being able to publish more than once, users will also not have interactions based on numbers. To create a post, people have two minutes to take the photo with the rear or front camera and post it to their audience. Very interesting initiative, which draws the attention of the huge number of people who are tired and emotionally affected with all the countless forms of comparison with what is not even true. Without followers, you have the possibility to share your daily moment with your friends on the platform or post it to everyone there. The differences don’t end here, to access the publications, you’ll have to create and post your first one.

The application is now available in Brazil for iPhone (Apple Store) and Android (Play Store) users. To register, just download and fill in your details. The app asks for date of birth, confirmation of mobile number and full name.

While people were slowly pouring into the O2 universe, soul singer Cherise played for them. And unfortunately, it must be said that if it continues as before, it will not become a star. Her voice is quite nice, but unfortunately the incident about her grandmother, which she lost during the pandemic, could not obscure how ordinary her performance was. If she played like that in a bar, it would probably turn out the same way, and many people probably wouldn’t look in her direction from their drink there either. Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like a regular guitar should be the point of making it happen. But that’s how it all sounded on one hill, the cover played in it completely and it was hard to tell when one song ends and the other begins. Jamie Cullum is different. He, too, sometimes slips into a situation where his songs pass into each other, and somewhere around “What A Difference A Day Makes” exactly came the situation when you lost your attention for a moment. But it was only for a moment. The vast majority of the set, on the other hand, was very happy to move from one position to another, so the sensitively sung piano ballads played solo alternated between very dynamic and colorful passages with the whole group. And sometimes some of the hits got involved.

For example, “Get Your Way”, which you could have discovered in the T-Music charts almost twenty years ago. But then, as today, his fame was also influenced by jazz cover versions of well-known songs from both deserving artists and contemporary ones. And no matter how his version of the single from The Killers has a twist, he could forgive the shabby Ed Sheeran. It sounded like “Shape Of You” had just pulled out of the washing machine. But we certainly don’t want to insult his efforts here, because he is the one who, at the age of forty-two, still attracts mass jazz, and that is a meritorious activity. Thanks to him, today young listeners have the opportunity to get to the legends. Whether it’s Avishai Cohen, Herbie Hancock or Miles Davis.

At the same time, they can have a great time. Like Jamie pulled out his hit “When I Get Famous” and jumped off the stage this time instead of playing the piano. The lower floor was full of people in chairs, and as soon as the pianist went to them and intertwined between them, they began to rise and follow him like a machine. When he climbed back on stage, it was a completely different concert. The audience, who has been applauding so far, not only stood, but also created a regular boiler under the stage. The whole show got a unique atmosphere and thanks to the positive and dancing songs that followed, it looked like a Brazilian carnival. The band contributed a lot, putting various wins into the songs. And also a duo of vocalists with unusual, wild choreographies. “Do you want to make a frog all of a sudden? How about jumping with your hands clapping over your head? Everything is allowed!” These are not Jamie’s quotes. I am just trying to describe to you how a respected cultural event has become a paradise of resentment and positive energy in a matter of minutes.

When, at the end of a nearly two-hour concert, a British gentleman dancing like a chimpanzee sat back at the piano and returned to the solo ballads, it was inappropriate. Or like this – it was a perfect ending, because that’s exactly how we started the concert. And you know what? I don’t really know what it should be like correctly. All I know is that it was a sacramentally entertaining evening. But one thing still bothers me. Was it still jazz?

Jamie Cullum performed at the O2 Universe under the heading Colors Of Ostrava, but he played a much different concert than the one we remember from 2009 and 2013. And was it still jazz?

Live: Jamie Cullum

It is not scary is the title of the new album by Bandabardò e Ciscooff Friday 20 maggio. The record, produced by Cisco e Bandabardò per OTR Live and distributed by BTFcontains 10 tracks including unreleased songs, as well as covers and reinterpretations of historical songs of the musical production of both Bandabardò that of Cisco.

Here’s how the band and the voice of Modena City Ramblers talk about this new project:

Cisco

It is not scary it holds everything together: the music played on records and on stages; the beauty of returning after two years of almost forced stop in our sector to do what we love; the luck of being able to do it within a wonderful project that has to do with something that is – just like music – very precious, friendship“.

Bandabardò

We can’t wait to recover that dimension of collective participation in the live that everyone has lacked in these years of pandemic and which has always been our figure. “Together” is a word that today takes on an even more precious and important meaning if possible, and it is nice that the first project with which we return to our audience is a project shared with a long-time friend, Cisco. Starting over from emotions seems to us the best way to start over“.

O ex-One Direction Harry Styles has proved to be a true chameleon. Inspired by the constant changes in the sound and look of David Bowie and Madonna, the singer became one of the greats of contemporary pop music, helping to heat up album sales in the streaming era.

Harry’s House”, as their third album is called, was released this Friday, May 20, and is one of the most anticipated albums of the year, both by fans and the music industry. The artist is still on tour to promote the album “Fine Line”, released in 2019 and which had shows postponed due to the pandemic, but the first single from “Harry’s House”, “As it was”, has already reached the top of the charts in several countries.

In his performance at Coachella 2022, Styles also performed two other tracks from the new album, “Boyfriends” e “Late Night Talking”, indicating that his next work should follow a vibe inspired by the 1980s, bringing more intimate and sincere lyrics.

Reason for Harry Styles’ success

In addition to a voice with quality, Harry Styles has conquered a very diverse audience. This is because, according to his fans, the artist’s songs “harmonize” with various moments. Whether you want to enjoy a soundtrack for a date or those who are preparing their creatine supplement for the gym, Styles’ songs cover a range of feelings and pack a lot of everyday situations.

That’s why it is becoming more and more common to hear Harry Styles’ songs on the radio, in playlists on streaming platforms and even in TV shows and series.

Warming up of the music sector

During the pandemic, many artists preferred to leave their releases open, to be able to take advantage of the opening of shows and public spaces to help spread their work. With this, there is great expectation that the works yet to be released will help to heat up the cultural industry as a whole, from events and concerts, to the sale of albums and, mainly, vinyls.

While in 2021 names like Adele e Taylor Swift were largely responsible for stimulating album sales, with record amounts of streaming, the expectation is that in 2022 Harry Styles will be among the biggest names in the sector, with a large number of albums already purchased on pre-sale.

Today, Thursday 19 May, the famous Greek composer and keyboardist Vangelis, named Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou, died at the age of 79. He was one of the pioneers of electronic pop, but his work intervened in more musical styles. He left a hospital in France, where he had been hospitalized for some time. The details are unknown at this time. As a young musician, he transferred from the Greek band The Forminx to the group Aphrodite’s Child, which he had already joined in Paris with his compatriots Demis Roussos and Loukas Sideras. They recorded a psychedelic album with the distinctive title “666”. However, the group did not last long, and although Vangelis did not resist further cooperation with Roussos, he eventually went in a different direction. He established close collaboration with the British progressive singer Yes Jon Anderson. Together they created under the name Jon & Vangelis, however, offers to write film music attracted this Greek more and more. In London, he founded his own recording studio called Nemo. In 1975 he recorded his first known album “Heaven and Hell”. Later, after seven years, Vangelis’ music for the film, translated into Czech as “Fire Cars”, won an Oscar. In the same year (1982), in collaboration with director Ridley Scott, he composed music for the famous sci-fi film “Blade Runner”. He continued his successful collaboration with this director ten years later, when he created the accompaniment to the film “1492: Conquest of Paradise”, probably his most famous soundtrack work. He subsequently released a music collection dedicated to the Greek painter El Greco, and the same year the album “Voices” was released, the title track of which was a commercial success. In 2001, a collection of his background music for US NASA space missions called “Mythodea” was published. At the same time, the audience also received a DVD from the Athenian performance. Vangelis has released an inexhaustible number of ambient recordings and, as an instrumentalist, not only opened the door to other worlds with his music, but always managed to create a beautiful, soothing, sometimes disturbing, but always thoughtful atmosphere. The list of his works is fascinating. The author of real musical paintings has left. Just close your eyes and he’s still with us.

Sometimes, the rush to release new work can make an artist not think so much about their own music-making process. Gab Ferreirahowever, was able to identify exactly when was the moment to look at all possible sides before crossing the path that would lead her to the mixtape visionsreleased in April.

From his debut with Lemon Squeeze (2018) to the current moment, “a long period of time passed, which was very important to marinate and absorb everything that was done on the first album. It also helped me to have a clear vision of what I would like to change, what I learned from the first things I did and how I wanted to translate a new idea and a new vision of the future in this mixtape”, explains Gab Ferreira to the pavé music.

The new perspectives that permeate visions they also served as a challenge that Gab threw herself in order to deliver “something that was more mature, a little more complex”, she says. “In Lemon SqueezeI feel like I tried to do a lot of things that I liked to hear and put it all together. […] And now, on this record, I feel like I stopped to think more about what I have to deliver and what I know how to do, to use my fullest potential.”

With that purpose, the Santa Catarina took some plans off the paper. Inspired by British singer Imogen Heap, Gab wanted to play with her voice a little more, making her vocals sound like an instrument. The result works very well and matches the electronic sound of visions.

Still testing new waters, Ferreira, until then used to composing in English so that the emotions present in the lyrics were processed with a certain distance allowed by the language, decided to write her first song in Portuguese: the track meet me there 🙂. Karen Jonz – four-time world champion in vertical skating and also a singer – was the final push for Gab to compose in Portuguese, a language she considers to have a greater impact. Pleased with the result and also for introducing a new way in which fans can connect with her music, she intends to continue searching for her voice in her mother tongue.

Less Wes Anderson and more Twilight

About her new aesthetic, now with fewer colors, the artist reveals: “I made all the visual material of visions before the album even existed.” During the pandemic, Gab dyed her hair orange, inspired by the anime she watched in the isolation period, and this connected to her creative process.

“I was in the mood to almost create a character, sort of an alter ego”, with the intention that the project would be “less first person and more of a fantasy”. These characters appear in the clips that have been released so far, as in the productions of karma and also from faking it.

In addition to the anime, the singer also reviewed the film a lot. Twilight in quarantine, which ended up serving as a visual reference. “Lemon Squeeze it was very solar, with more primary colors related to happiness. Not conscious, but a Wes Anderson wave. This one I wish it was more Twilight”.

back from the shows

In recent months, the frequency of concerts and festivals has increased and almost matched the pace before the covid-19 pandemic. About this return, Gab confesses that she underestimated the impact of performing live, especially because at the beginning of her career, when she didn’t live in São Paulo, her songs only existed in the internet world and she didn’t do so many shows.

But when she actually stepped onto the stage for the first time since March 2020, she noted that “it was a really crazy feeling. A euphoria of also being with the new things I did during the pandemic, which was a painful process for everyone “. In the nine tracks visionsthe artist sees the “possibility of showing what was left of me, after everything that happened”.

In addition to experiences like this, Gab also has a remarkable partnership with singer YMA, with whom he collaborated on the track Summer Lover2018. Since then, the two have performed this song live countless times.

Reflecting on these collective moments, Gab comments: “I really like it when there is this possibility of doing something with other people, especially working with other women, because, like it or not, it is an industry. In addition to connecting with other people when she’s singing, being able to connect with herself is something Gab Ferreira values. “What I like most about the aspect of making music is telling a story, which I will be able to collect again in 20, 30, 40 years through something that I put out into the world.
