Now that Black Widow is nearly upon us, Rachel Weisz is spilling all the tea on her Widow co-stars. In a new promotional spot for Marvel’s social channels, Weisz answers a series of questions about her colleagues on the set of the spy thriller. After saying Scarlett Johansson researched her character the most out of anyone on the cast, Weisz said she’d be the one to break character most while filming.

When it comes to on-set pranksters, Weisz said no one could top David Harbour for his antics. “David Harbour is kind of of the living embodiment of prankiness,” the actor said in the spot.

Weisz then goes through and answers a handful of other questions, all of which you can see below.

“She is a Black Widow. She’s been trained as a Black Widow spy, she’s a highly-skilled spy and scientist,” Weisz previously said of her character on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “She runs kind of, well, a pig farm. That’s where the family have met me [in the clip], at my scientific lab where I also keep pigs which I experiment on.”

Marvel’s synopsis for Black Widow can be found below.

In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Weisz joins Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, O-T Fagbenle, Ray Winstone, and William Hurt in the flick. Black Widow is now set to hit theaters and Disney+ on July 9th. If you haven’t signed up for Disney+ yet, you can try it out here.

Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a doozy so far, with dizzying stories being told on the small and silver screens. The next of the upcoming Marvel movies hitting theaters is Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the story could seemingly go anywhere. But is Vision in Doctor Strange 2? Here’s what Paul Bettany says.

After voicing JARVIS for years, Paul Bettany made his live-action debut in the MCU as Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Since then his signature character developed a strong relationship with Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. The two kicked off Phase Four with WandaVision on Disney+, which is why fans are wondering if a reunion is coming in Doctor Strange 2. Bettany was recently asked on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert if he has a role in the mysterious blockbuster, responding with:

This is a really great question. And, again, I said I was going to be entirely honest with you … Am I in Doctor Strange? Yes, no, yes, no, yes, no. I don’t know. Am I? What do you think? I can neither confirm nor deny rumors that I am in said aforementioned Doctor Strange 2.

Save test development time with seamless operation between all models

All 10000 series instruments operate on the same firmware and have the same touchscreen user interface. The physical layout is the same, and all instruments have similar input and output characteristics. The common programming and user interface saves test development and setup time when building test systems that have requirements for multiple power instrumentation.

Access greater voltage and current in one device with Autoranging

All 10000 series instruments employ an autoranging output (input if an electronic load) characteristic. Autoranging enables the instrument to have a higher voltage capability at lower currents and a higher current capability at lower voltages than a power supply or load with a conventional rectangular output/input characteristic. Furthermore, an instrument with autoranging output/input can deliver/accept full power output over a significant portion of the instrument’s operating range. This is in contrast with an instrument with a rectangular output characteristic which has maximum power only at its maximum voltage and current. The benefit of EA’s autoranging capability for a test engineer is access to a wider range of voltages and currents enabling the engineer to test more applications without the need for multiple power level supplies.

Simulate other power devices and create AC + DC signals with built-in arbitrary waveform function generator

The EA-PSI supplies, EA-PSB supplies, and EA-ELR loads all have a built-in function generator to allow creation of complex signals riding on a DC bias and to simulate the characteristics of various devices such as solar cells, batteries, and fuel cells. Special functions enable maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and EN 50530 for solar panel inverter testing and LV123-, LV124-, and LV148-standard based test sequences for testing of automotive components and systems. The built-in functions simplify the tasks of programming the instrument to simulate various devices and creating sequences of outputs (or inputs) to comply with key test standards.

Reduce power consumption with high efficiency 10000 series and enjoy greater than 96% energy recovery

All models of the 10000 series employ active power factor correction, typically 0.99, to minimize the power drawn from the power grid. Additionally, EA-PSB bidirectional power supplies and EA-ELR electronic loads employ regenerative circuitry to return energy back to the grid with up to greater than 96% efficiency. Regenerative circuitry saves operation costs and the expense of cooling requirements to dissipate the heat that a conventional electronic load generates.

Communicate easily to PCs and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

The 10000 series instruments work effectively in either PC-controlled test systems or PLC-controlled industrial processes. Engineers can easily program the instruments using SCPI or ModBus programming modes. The 10000 series instruments have an extensive set of interfaces. PC interfaces include Ethernet, USB, and RS-232, while PLC interfaces include CanBus, Profibus, ModBus, Profinet, and EtherCat, among several other interface options.

Parallel for high-power systems up to 1.92 MW

Test engineers can parallel up to 64 of the 10000 series power supplies and loads using the Master-Auxiliary bus to enable one instrument to control all instruments in the system. The system can consist of any combination of instrument power levels within the same EA-XXX family (EA-PSB, EA-PSI, EA-ELR, etc). A galvanically isolated Share-Bus interface in each instrument ensures that all the instruments safely share the load requirements so that the entire rack can operate with full performance.

The John Wick spinoff film Ballerina is officially a go. During Lionsgate’s presentation at Thursday’s CinemaCon proceedings, it was confirmed that Ana de Armas (Knives Out, Blonde) will be starring in Ballerina, the upcoming spinoff of the hit action franchise. Production is reportedly set to begin this summer. The project will be directed by Underworld helmer Len Wiseman, with a script from John Wick: Parabellum and Army of the Dead writer Shay Hatten. Franchise director Chad Stahelski will be producing Ballerina alongside Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee.

“Having him [Ballerina director Len Wiseman] on board and approaching some of the action design from a slightly different perspective, meaning the set pieces, the character involvement, how and what he wants to do during the action sequences, makes it kind of fresh,” Stahelski told THR in a previous interview. “So, we’re not just copying ourselves over and over again with gun-fu or something like that. And because the character is different, we’re going to get a different take on things. But as far as the level, the competence or the style of action? Yes. I plan to be there to assist whenever I can. And our 87eleven stunt team will be very actively involved in helping Len in all his action needs.”

“[Wiseman] had a take that he wanted to pitch to Basil about how Ballerina fit into the John Wick world and how he could really spin it and put his taste on it,” Stahelski added. “So, Basil and Thunder Road heard the pitch, and they wanted me to hear it. So, I went to dinner with Len, and he pitched me on his ideas and what he wanted to do with it. I already think he’s a really good director, and I think he gets the tone. I think he understands action, and I think he’s got a good visual style. And right off the bat, I was like, ‘Oh, we’ve got to get this guy. He gets it.'”

The brain structure and genetic mechanisms underlying the nonlinear association between sleep duration, cognition and mental health. Nature Aging, 2022; DOI: 10.1038/s43587-022-00210-2

Sleep plays an important role in enabling cognitive function and maintaining good psychological health. It also helps keep the brain healthy by removing waste products. As we get older, we often see alterations in our sleep patterns, including difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, and decreased quantity and quality of sleep. It is thought that these sleep disturbances may contribute to cognitive decline and psychiatric disorders in the aging population.

In research published today in Nature Aging, scientists from the UK and China examined data from nearly 500,000 adults aged 38-73 years from the UK Biobank. Participants were asked about their sleeping patterns, mental health and wellbeing, and took part in a series of cognitive tests. Brain imaging and genetic data were available for almost 40,000 of the study participants.

By analysing these data, the team found that both insufficient and excessive sleep duration were associated with impaired cognitive performance, such as processing speed, visual attention, memory and problem-solving skills. Seven hours of sleep per night was the optimal amount of sleep for cognitive performance, but also for good mental health, with people experiencing more symptoms of anxiety and depression and worse overall wellbeing if they reported sleeping for longer or shorter durations.

The researchers say one possible reason for the association between insufficient sleep and cognitive decline may be due to the disruption of slow-wave — ‘deep’ — sleep. Disruption to this type of sleep has been shown to have a close link with memory consolidation as well as the build-up of amyloid — a key protein which, when it misfolds, can cause ‘tangles’ in the brain characteristic of some forms of dementia. Additionally, lack of sleep may hamper the brain’s ability to rid itself of toxins.

The team also found a link between the amount of sleep and differences in the structure of brain regions involved in cognitive processing and memory, again with greater changes associated with greater than or less than seven hours of sleep.

Having a consistent seven hours’ sleep each night, without too much fluctuation in duration, was also important to cognitive performance and good mental health and wellbeing. Previous studies have also shown that interrupted sleep patterns are associated with increased inflammation, indicating a susceptibility to age-related diseases in older people.

Professor Jianfeng Feng from Fudan University in China said: “While we can’t say conclusively that too little or too much sleep causes cognitive problems, our analysis looking at individuals over a longer period of time appears to support this idea. But the reasons why older people have poorer sleep appear to be complex, influenced by a combination of our genetic makeup and the structure of our brains.”

The researchers say the findings suggest that insufficient or excessive sleep duration may be a risk factor for cognitive decline in ageing. This is supported by previous studies that have reported a link between sleep duration and the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, in which cognitive decline is a hallmark symptom.

Professor Barbara Sahakian from the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge, one of the study’s authors, said: “Getting a good night’s sleep is important at all stages of life, but particularly as we age. Finding ways to improve sleep for older people could be crucial to helping them maintain good mental health and wellbeing and avoiding cognitive decline, particularly for patients with psychiatric disorders and dementias.”

The research was supported by the National Key R&D Program of China, the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Major Project, the Shanghai Center for Brain Science and Brain-Inspired Technology, the 111 Project, the National Natural Sciences Foundation of China and the Shanghai Rising Star Program.

She never fails to show off her impressive dancing skills during her live performances.

The 52-year-old singer and actress looked cool and sporty in an all-white outfit as she headed into the building.

Practice time: Jennifer Lopez, 52, stood out in an all-white ensemble on Thursday as she arrived at a dance studio in Los Angeles

Jennifer’s outfit included a plain white long-sleeve shirt that hugged her trim figure.

She matched it with a set of loose-fitting white slacks that emphasized her pert derriere.

The Hustler’s star stayed cozy with a thick cream-colored ribbed vest, which matched her rugged boots.

J.Lo brought along a luxurious beige alligator Birkin bag, and she made sure to pull her sleeve up just enough to bare her gold luxury wristwatch.

She didn’t share anything from her studio time yet, but the day before she reminded her 205 million Instagram followers about her upcoming Netflix documentary with a post in her Insta Stories.

Jennifer posted a short animation of what appeared to be herself at the 2020 Super Bowl LIV Halftime show.

‘Let the countdown begin!!!!’ she captioned the image, which reminded her fans that the documentary arrives on June 14.

Missing from Jennifer’s outing on Thursday was her fiancé Ben Affleck, who previously showed off his ripped arms while helping to carry some equipment out of a studio with his love on Tuesday in LA.

They’ve been spotted together several times in recent weeks as they search for a new mansion together around Los Angeles.

The lovebirds have been going strong ever since rekindling their romance last year.

They had originally dated and been engaged from 2002–2004, but they reunited in May 2021 after striking up a correspondence via email.

Just a month earlier, Jennifer had ended her engagement and relationship to former Yankees star Alex Rodriguez among rumors of his infidelity.

Ben and Jen were initially secretive about their rendezvous, and he reportedly would spend time at her home in LA by dropping his car off at a hotel and getting picked up in her white Escalade.

The lovebirds took their relationship Instagram official in July while celebrating her 52nd birthday in Europe, and the star confirmed that she was engaged again to Ben earlier in April.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – It’s been over 25 years since Disney released its iconic animated film, Aladdin.

And now in 2019, the film has returned as a live action feature.

This time, however, the cast look and sound different. Disney was intentional with bringing on diverse talent that represent the Middle Eastern and South Asian influence from the original folktale, One Thousand and One Nights.

One such talent is Persian American actor Navid Negahban. Seen in shows like Legion and Homeland, Negahban plays the Sultan in Aladdin, and overcame many trials to reach his current success.

As he walks around the Persian influenced area of Westwood for a bite to eat at Byblos Mediterranean restaurant, he reflects upon his creative journey over a cup of hot mint tea.

“I’m from Mashad, Iran. You travel around the world like a gypsy and you end up here against all the odds and the obstacles in your way then you get an offer to play the Sultan of Agrabah, such an iconic character, it was a joy and a pleasure,” Negahban said.

Negahban plays the conservative father of Princess Jasmine.

The same legendary ballads are heard in the live action feature, including “A Whole New World”.

And it truly is a whole new world when it comes to Hollywood’s decision making with casting diverse talent. The actors in the film represent many cultures including Iran, Egypt, India, Tunisia, and more. A change from the original 1992 animation, which was often critiqued for its lack of authentic representation.

“What’s great about the film is that it gives an opportunity for these characters to be seen as who they are, not as what someone who’s not that familiar with the culture assumes they are,” Negahban explained.

Disney even decided to film on location in the country of Jordan, adding authenticity to the original storyline which, according to Will Smith, who plays The Genie, also helps an actor’s performance.

“What’s really great for actors, when you really go to a place is, your experiencing the space also, so it programs your performance versus trying to shoot it in a desert like Burbank, so the actual travel creates that space,” Smith noted.

As Negahban enjoyed the excitement of the premiere of the film, he says he hopes the message of Aladdin will resonate with everyone.

“I think one of the most important things I would love for them to discover is the hero inside themselves. Each of us, we’re unique. There is something very valuable and special inside of us,” he said.

And according to Negahban, that special thing can only be discovered when you’re brave enough to just be yourself.

Despite having a small frame and a pretty face, Madeline Brewer has become famous for her ability to play the ‘bad girl’. Initially best known for her role in Orange is the New Black, Madeline made it very clear that she wasn’t afraid to play a character whose strength was often perceived as something else. Since then, Madeline has kept the momentum going by playing a string of other uniquely strong characters. First Janine in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale and then Dawn in the 2019 movie Hustlers. Madeline’s range as an actress and her dedication to every character she plays is the kind of thing you don’t see often. Not only will The Handmaid’s Tale be back before we know it, but Madeline’s fans will also be excited to know that she has a role in an upcoming film called Separation. Continue reading for 10 things you didn’t know about Madeline Brewer.

1. She’s A New Jersey Native

Madeline was born and raised in New Jersey and she’s very proud of her roots. Her father is also a very creative person and has worked as an actor and musician. Although Madeline will always have love for her home state, she knew that she needed to relocate if she was going to have a chance to break into the industry.

2. She Started Acting As A Child

Madeline realized she wanted to be a performer when she was still in elementary school. Working towards a career in acting quickly became her focus. During an interview with Schon Magazine, “I got into acting at the age of seven. I did a play for a local theatre company and was completely hooked – I loved it!”

3. She’s A Formally Trained Actress

After high school, Madeline knew that she wanted to sharpen her skills by furthering her acting education. Madeline graduated from American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York in 2012. Not long after graduation, she landed a role in a musical called Liberty.

4. She’s A Singer

Acting may be Madeline’s main focus, but most people don’t understand that she is truly a multi-talented creative. In addition to being an actress, Madeline is also a classically trained singer. However, it doesn’t appear that she has ever pursued music on a professional level.

5. She Loves To Read

People who enjoy reading know that there’s no better feeling than getting lost in a good book. Madeline would definitely agree. She loves to read and she has a whole highlight section on her Instagram profile dedicated to books she recommends to her followers. At the moment, there are more than a dozen books on her recommended list.

6. She Learns Something About Herself Through Each Character

Every actor has different things they enjoy about acting. For Madeline, one of the best things is being able to learn more about herself. Madeline told Vulture, “I’m very lucky that each and every one of these characters has forced me to confront something about myself. Alice forces me to confront my own feelings about my body, and forces me to confront my own performative femininity in a way. Janine forces me to confront my perpetual pessimism, and I learn through them.”

7. She’s A Dog Mom

Madeline doesn’t have any children, but she’s still getting the chance to use her maternal skills thanks to her role as a pet parent. She has a dog named Ruki who has become her best friend. While Ruki doesn’t have his own Instagram account, he does have a highlight section on Madeline’s profile that is entirely dedicated to him.

8. She Loves To Sleep

American society is so focused on non-stop work that it can be difficult for people to admit that they’re tired and need a break. Madeline, however, has no problem admitting that she loves sleep. In an interview with InStyle, Madeline said, “I’m not antisocial, I just like to sleep more than I like people. I struggle with that sometimes, when I want to go out and see people, but also, I could stay home and sleep.”

9. She Isn’t Afraid To Speak Her Mind

Having a large platform can be overwhelming. There are lots of people in the public eye who prefer to stay away from certain topics out of fear that they will offend people or make themselves look bad. But Madeline is more concerned with standing up for what she believes in than she is with what people think. She is a strong supporter of causes like LGBTQ rights and anti-racism and she has no problem letting that be known.

10. Orange Is The New Black Was Her First On-Screen Role

You may have been aware that Madeline was new to the industry when she was cast in OITNB, but what you may not have known is that it was actually her very first on-screen role. Although she was probably dealing with a lot of nerves, Madeline handled herself like a pro.

Trying to move forward. After Will Smith made headlines for slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, the actor and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, are taking the necessary steps to put the scandal behind them.

“Right now they’re figuring things out, committing to therapy together and trying to salvage the best of a pretty horrible situation,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly.

Late last month, Smith, 53, slapped Rock, 57, when he made a joke about Pinkett Smith, 50, at the 94th annual Academy Awards. While presenting an award, the comedian commented on the Girls Trip star’s shaved head. Pinkett Smith, for her part, has previously spoken about her alopecia condition.

“Will Smith just smacked the s—t out of me,” the South Carolina native said in censored footage that later circulated online. As Smith returned to his seat, he was heard yelling at Rock to “keep my wife’s name out your f—king mouth.”

One day after the incident, the I Am Legend star took to social media to apologize directly for his “unacceptable and inexcusable” actions. “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness,” he wrote via Instagram.

The Philadelphia native added: “I would also like to apologize to The Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.”

Pinkett Smith, for her part, seemingly reacted to the incident when she shared an Instagram quote, which read, “This is a season for healing and I’m here for it.”

The Red Table Talk host, who has been married to Smith since 1997, later hinted that the topic would be addressed during season 5 of her Facebook series. “Considering all that has happened in the last few weeks, the Smith family has been focusing on deep healing. Some of the discoveries around our healing will be shared at the table when the time calls,” a statement from Pinkett Smith read on April 20.

The onscreen message continued: “Until then… the table will continue offering itself to powerful, inspiring and healing testimonies like that of our incredibly impressive first guest. Thanks for joining us, Jada.”

Earlier that month, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed that Smith would be banned from all Oscars events for 10 years following his resignation. The Suicide Squad star responded to his punishment, saying in a statement to Page Six, “I accept and respect the Academy’s decision.”

Since the first successful fabrication of a two-dimensional structure of carbon atoms about 20 years ago, graphene has fascinated scientists. A few years ago, researchers discovered that two layers of graphene, slightly twisted against each other, can conduct electric current without loss. In recent years, this discovery has prompted scientists to explore such layered materials in greater detail. A recent notable example is mirror-symmetric twisted trilayer graphene, where three layers of graphene are stacked with alternating twist angles. It is the first moiré system that can both be efficiently tuned with a perpendicular electric field and was demonstrated experimentally to exhibit robust superconductivity, alongside various other phases. “This establishes trilayer graphene as an exciting platform for complex many-body physics, but the nature of the observed interaction-induced insulators, semi-metals, and superconductivity remains unknown,” says Mathias Scheurer from the Department of Theoretical Physics of the University of Innsbruck.

In a paper published in Physical Review X, a team led by Scheurer numerically and analytically studied the phase diagram of this system for different numbers of electrons per moiré unit cell and as a function of electric field. “This is a very challenging problem as the system has both flat and highly dispersive bands,” says the theoretical physicist. “Nonetheless, we managed to show that the ground state of the system in the absence of a field decouples into a product of the ground state of graphene and the ground state of twisted bilayer graphene,” a property that has subsequently been confirmed by experiments. Their results further establish the dominance of insulating and semi-metallic phases in the presence of an electric field which are unique to the trilayer system, i.e., are not realized in twisted bilayer graphene. “We are able to use our resulting phase diagram for the correlated normal states to constrain the form of the superconductor,” says Scheurer. “Among other aspects, the resulting two superconducting candidate states we get are consistent with the unexpected stability of the superconductor in magnetic field seen in experiment.”

The relevance of the findings for the physics of twisted trilayer graphene is further attested by a subsequent collaboration with the group of Abhay Pasupathy from Columbia university. In a recent paper in Science, they report scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) data on this system. “We show that the measured tunneling spectra exhibit significant interaction effects that can be qualitatively captured by the numerics of our work,” says Mathias Scheurer.
